🖊 AYUSH Minister announced to expand ‘North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Folk Medicine Research (NEIAFMR)’ in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh.
🖊 The North Eastern Institute of Folk Medicine (NEIFM), Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh is an autonomous institute under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. The Institute is located at Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh
🖊 The northeastern region of India, comprising the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura, endowed with a rich biodiversity of flora and fauna, has a rich and vast heritage of traditional folk medicine practices, remedies and therapies
🖊 The Union Cabinet accorded approval for establishment of the NEIFM on 21st February, 2008 on the recommendations of the Steering Committee of the Planning Commission on AYUSH for the 11th Plan.
🖊 Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given approval in July 2021 to change the nomenclature & mandate of North Eastern Institute of Folk Medicine (NEIFM) as “North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Folk Medicine Research (NEIAFMR)
🖊 Institute was established with the objective of functioning as an apex research centre for all aspect of Folk Medicine and creating an interface between scientific research, survey, validation & documentation of folk medicine practices and traditional healers.
